Dataphyte is pleased to announce that it will deliver real-time reporting on the upcoming FCT Area Council Elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026. This exercise will build on the organisation’s election monitoring and reporting activities evident in its reporting of the 2023 general elections and the 2025 Anambra State gubernatorial election.
The live reporting will deliver real-time election updates across Dataphyte’s social media platforms on X, Facebook, and LinkedIn. The reporting will include on-the-ground incident reports, short- and long-form issue-based reports, and election result updates. Specifically, incident reports and election results will be available on Dataphyte’s Election Portal (DEP).
The issue-based reporting will spotlight key issues emerging during the polls across the 6 Area Councils, with focus on the indicators of the preparedness and coordination of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the capacity of election officials at polling units to operate the BVAS machines and other technical devices, timeliness of presiding officers at polling units, and availability of voting materials, accessibility provisions for persons with disabilities, deployment and effectiveness of security personnel in preventing violence and disorder and incidents of electoral malpractices.
For this exercise, Dataphyte will collaborate with 21st Century Community Empowerment for Youth and Women Initiative, the Center for Transparency Advocacy (CTA), and the Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI). These partnerships will strengthen access to real-time incident reports and election results, providing citizens with accurate and unfiltered information across polling locations.
According to Dataphyte’s Program Manager, Abdulahi Adebayo, “The integrity of this electioneering process and conduct is critical to assessing INEC’s preparedness, especially as we gear into the 2027 general election, and to strengthen local and inclusive democratic governance through the provision of timely, verified, and data-driven updates from across the 2,822 polling units in the 6 FCT Area Councils. Through institutional collaboration, Dataphyte’s Election Portal and our digital reporting infrastructure, we will track and document election incidents and results, providing open data accessibility during and after the election for citizens, media, CSOs, policy actors and other stakeholders, thereby strengthening electoral accountability and integrity, prompt policy actions and responses to incidents, learnings, and future references.”
Dataphyte’s live election reporting is designed to promote open access to election data and deliver evidence-based analysis of election issues and situations that directly or indirectly impact the electoral process.
